OUR PARENTS

Pupil Premium

The pupil premium is a specific, additional funding provided to support the education of students known to be eligible for free school meals, children in public care (looked after children) and children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces.

The money is being used to help appropriate students as follows:
Eligible students, for example, receive financial assistance so that they are able to participate in school trips for example Menai, Geography trips to Castleton and Llandudno and to provide them with items of equipment and uniform.

In addition a number receive support with purchasing a lunch and/or revision materials. Where necessary, students benefit from a more personalised support programme, for example, lunch time intervention programmes to aid reading development, and craft and homework clubs working with learning support assistants. Ruskin school also uses the funding to support small class sizes, using a learning mentor, implementing English and Maths intervention and employing an intervention co-ordinator.
