Homework and Revision at Key Stage 4 - Information for Parents/Carers and Students

There is an expectation that all students in Year 10 and Year 11 should be revising regularly to support their learning in school.

Revision skills are key to achieving success in their GCSE exams. Students must understand the importance of the long term development of independent learning; revision is not something that should only happen in Year11, it has to be on-going and should start early in Key Stage 3.

Homework is set as method of extending knowledge and embedding learning. If your child  says “I have no homework” using one of the sites listed would be really beneficial to their learning. Becoming familiar with and building up a bank of websites that they regularly use will help them prepare for exams, raising attainment and moving them towards their target grades.

Exam success is directly linked to quality revision and advanced preparation.

Staff at Ruskin have put together a comprehensive list of websites that can be used as an aid to homework and revision at Key Stage 4 - Information (228kb pdf)

The preparation for GCSE exams can never start too early. Learning how to study and revise independently is a skill that needs to be learnt at Key Stage 3 and not left until Year 10 or Year 11.

These sites are great learning tools, all have been recommended by subject staff and well worth visiting! - Key Stage 3 - Information (203kb pdf)
