Our curriculum is designed to underpin our school values of:
Teachers have strong subject knowledge and teachers deliver the curriculum well.
Respect
Throughout the curriculum in geography we look at a wide range of cultures and beliefs and examine the way that different populations are resilient to the challenges that they face in everyday life.
Students build their wider skills in order to respect the cultures around the world including countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas.
Students also look at how geographical processes function in the world and challenge how humans are interfering with them.
High Aspirations
In Geography we encourage ambitious learners to explore and analyse the world around them, considering solutions to current issues and events.
Students build key skills to explore a number of opportunities available to them as they progress through their education and onto their next steps.
With a varied curriculum we look at both human and physical geography and allow students to explore career opportunities including next steps education and apprenticeships. Careers in Geography are explicitly covered in our schemes of work from Year 7 – 11.
Confidence
Through a variety of learning activities and quality first teaching, students will develop confidence in
their own ability.
Students are expected to explore the world around them through case study knowledge and develop understanding, including researching current events, bringing their outside learning into the classroom and thus developing their ambition to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
